DNA/RNA Shield Lysis and Collection tubes are microbial lysis tubes and bead beating tubes designed for the streamlined collection, transport, and processing of biological specimen. The microbial lysis tubes and bead beating tubes are pre-filled with DNA/RNA Shield and a lysis matrix tailored for tough-to-lyse- sample inputs from tissue to microbial samples. Collected samples do not require additional handling for processing and are ready for homogenization. Bead sizes include 0.5mm & 0.1mm (R1103 and R1104) and 2.0mm (R1105).
2 mL screwcap tube pre-filled with DNA/RNA Shield (1 mL) and ultra-high density BashingBeads (R1103 - 0.5 mm & 0.1 mm beads, R1105 - 2.0 mm beads) for homogenization. R1104 includes swab with 20 mm breakpoint.
DNA/RNA Shield can be used on a wide variety of sample types including cells, tissues, biological fluids (plasma, serum, saliva, urine), and environmental samples (feces, plants, swabs, etc.).
Yes, extracted nucleic acids are stabilized in DNA/RNA Shield. Prior to downstream applications, clean-up the sample via the appropriate Zymo Research clean-up kit (Genomic DNA Clean and Concentrator (gDCC), DNA Clean and Concentrator (DCC), and RNA Clean and Concentrator (RCC)).
This can happen on occasion due to transport or storage at lower temperatures. The reagent functionality is not affected; however, the precipitate can be resolved by heating the reagent to >37 °C.
For any biological sample collection (nasal, throat, etc.), use a sterile swab for collection and then deposit it into DNA/RNA Shield. For application-specific questions, please reach out to technical support.
